Not the Bank Holiday that I had hoped for

Had planned to go and see Holly as an Ummper Lumper on her Play School float this weekend but the last few weeks have caught up with me and I know it would have been silly to do so much driving in 2 days, so decided not to go.

Saturday was always going to be spent down here as I was baby sitting Millie on Saturday night.  I was welcomed to the bank holiday with the sound of rain on the window pain – great.  I decided to do the statutory house work and washing and ironing and get that over and done with.  I then rewarded myself with some stitching time.

Put the backing on the quilt and then free machine stitched around the barbed wire patter to secure to the backing

Then found that it looked like lots of little pockets – yuk! So decided to slip stitch it, nice – bonus is that it gives the front lots of nice texture, disadvantage, it is hard to stitch and takes ages and as it needs to be  at the drop off for the FoQ by the end of June, I have my work cut out!!!!!!!!!!!

Arms started to ache so decided to sort out wave border, Ralph gave a helping hand.

Sunday came and went, Dad was not well.  Monday arrived and thought I better try and get some of those outstanding jobs done, one of which was the Round Robin – should be completed by 1.6.10 – bit 11th hour……….

Decided to cut circles and diagonals into it, like the pattern Sharne had stitched, circles and diamonds.  I really liked the rust dyed indigo fabric I had previously dyed and though this contrasted well with Deb’s fabric and decided to flip some of the strips over to give a bit of contrast – Not quite sure how any one is going to make a vessel out of this shape though!!!!!!!!!!

The checked my blogs and find that Miriam Mother has died, I am really sorry Miriam, tried to post a comment, but couldn't work out how to do it.  But my thought as with you   xx

Feet haven't touched the ground

It’s Thursday and not sure where Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have gone…..

Last night Sharne, Di and I went to June’s for a committee meeting about Embroiders Guild Regional Day, all seems to be going according to plan, but it is also a little scary – lots of responsibility to make sure 300+ people will have a fun day

Today I was off work, took Dad for his first appointment of radiotherapy managed to get a bit of sewing done whilst I was waiting for him

and then college, some of the ladies are making some really lovely projects, I go a bit carried away and forgot to photograph them, but this is Ruth’s – I am really impressed, it is completely her own design.

Two weeks catch up

 IMG_6474 IMG_6475 IMG_6477 IMG_6480

Kirsty came down for Ian Spurling’s Wedding, so I got to see Holly and Gus again, and more importantly, so did Nan and Granddad.

On the Saturday I was already booked to see Sister Act, so Stacey, Nick and Dan happily boarded the train for London for our fun day out

First of all I lost my cardigan, then the shoes I was wearing decided to give me blisters and then some one chopped through the poser cable and the performance was cancelled. so we came home again….

So Holly and Gus and I went to the swings – lots of fun

Then on the 19th May Brian died, a bit of reality check, he was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks after Dad.

Richard decided that he wanted to come and see the family on the spur of the moment, especially as it was Nanny’s birthday

It was lovely to have Richard and Rob with their families there,  after reeking havoc in Nan’s house, we decided to leave them in peace and go to Watt Tyler's Park for a picnic
